Words for Thought + A Special Note to Readers

Hi everyone!  I had to to get a few things off my mind so I decided to do this post.;) So let’s begin….

I know Valentine’s Day is close at hand and many single young ladies out there  may be wondering along the lines of “Oh no I don’t have a boyfriend yet  or greater yet, why am I not married? I just wanted to encourage you a little bit. Every once in a while I need a pat on the back as well because it’s only natural to yearn for that God given mate. Be encouraged!  Your Waiting, Praying, and Serving  God is NOT in vain. God is still mindful of you! ALWAYS. There is nothing out of cater and EVERYTHING is working according to His plan. I also wanted to share the words below,

Oh, Lord, open our hearts and minds and lives to understand this depth of love You have for us.

Yeah everyone talks being "single" as being a bad thing. I mean it's just a phase of life. And if you're a Christian you're never truly single because you have a relationship with the God of the universe that's way better than any relationship with a guy.

Be a lady. Be classy.

Well, that just about sums everything up! 🙂  I love the last quote. One of my friends told me about it

and I can honestly say that I had never heard it before! lol. But I like it. 🙂

That’s something that I strongly believe in, in a sense but said in a different way.

So I do encourage you  to NEVER let down your guard or EVER compromise with your stand. Also don’t settle for less than what God has PROMISED you! You won’t regret it in the end.

There is nothing that is more devasting in this world as a marriage or courtship for that

matter,  that is built off of  the wrong foundation. Also, there is nothing more eye opening and sad than a lonely

marriage. So we must trust Him. Always. 🙂  I don’t want to lecture you or anything but I do want to encourage you. Hopefully I did. As I’m talking

to you, I’m talking to myself as well. 🙂

Just remember He will withhold nothing good from his children. NOTHING!

God will honor you for honoring His Word.

A Rosy Note: An Open Book

I also wanted to talk to readers everywhere. We ALL know how we love and admire BOOKS. We just ADORE stories that inspire us and continue to enlighten our imagination! I’m always thrilled when I come to the end of a book and sigh and continually say to myself,”Wow,now that was a REALLY good book!” lol. I love when that happens.*sigh*

Well, ever since last year I’ve had the opportunity to read some very awesome books and so I decided that I would

write and thank the authors of whose books I really loved. I was really astonished of how thankful they were for me thanking them.

I think that I shall be doing that more often now. 🙂

So don’t be afraid to drop a thank you note to your favorite authors because

I think it encourages them to continue in their writing journey and it really  makes their day. Especially to the Christian Fiction writers which is  mostly what I read. 🙂

A Tribute ~Abraham Lincoln~

  Abraham Lincoln

Born on February 12,1809, Hodgenville,Kentucky,USA.

I truly admire Abraham Lincoln. He has to be my favorite president of all time! Of course there were some things I didn’t agree with him politically wise but I won’t go into that.

I admire his character and his persistence of never giving up even when everything seemed against so him. His integrity and his words proved his character. He went through so much in his life as a young boy growing up with an unloving father and only receiving real love  from his mother and later, his stepmother.

He knew that even though growing up poor he wanted more from life, and that’s another thing that I liked about him. Of course I know he was only a human being, and made many mistakes as we all do, but something about his character really stood out to me. Later in life, there were many things that he had to go through but he  would eventually, triumph.

~~10 Very interesting facts about Abraham Lincoln~~

1. Lincoln has no heirs

Although Abraham Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln produced four sons, there are no living descendants today. Three of their sons died before the age of twenty. Edward died at the age of four, Willie at twelve and Tad at the age of eighteen. Robert was the only child to live to adulthood and his last known descendant died in 1985.

2. Lincoln’s beard was historic

Lincoln was the first president to sport a beard while serving in office.

3. Lincoln was an inventor

Lincoln was the first and only president to ever obtain a patent. He was mechanically inclined and like to take things apart just to see how they worked. In 1849, he got a patent for a device to lift ships over shoals by way of a buoying mechanism. His invention, US Patent No. 6,469 never made it into practical use.

4.Lincoln had a premonition he would be killed

Not long before he was assassinated, Lincoln spoke of a dream where he heard someone weeping in the White House. When he found the room it was coming from, he asked who had died. He was told it was the president. He approached the coffin to peer in and saw his own face.

5. Lincoln created the Secret Service hours before his assassination.
On April 14, 1865, Lincoln signed legislation creating the U.S. Secret Service. That evening, he was shot at Ford’s Theatre. Even if the Secret Service had been established earlier, it wouldn’t have saved Lincoln: The original mission of the law enforcement agency was to combat widespread currency counterfeiting. It was not until 1901, after the killing of two other presidents, that the Secret Service was formally assigned to protect the commander-in-chief.

6. Lincoln’s son was saved by his assassin’s brother

Shortly before his father was assassinated, Robert Lincoln was at at train station where he fell between the platform and the train as the train began to move. He was pulled to safety by a prominent actor of the time named Edwin Booth. Edwin was the brother of John Wilkes Booth, who would later assassinate President Lincoln

 7. Poisoned milk killed Lincoln’s mother.
When Abraham was 9 years old in 1818, his mother, Nancy, died of a mysterious “milk sickness” that swept across southern Indiana. It was later learned that the strange disease was due to drinking tainted milk from a cow that had ingested poisonous white snakeroot.

8. He was the tallest U.S president at 6’4″.

9.  Lincoln lost five separate elections before being elected president.

10. Lincoln was fond of pets, and owned horses, cats, dogs and a turkey.

As I ponder on the life of Abraham Lincoln, I’m reminded of a bit of Henry Longfellow’s poem,

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
    And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time…….

City of Angels~Tracie Peterson and James Scott Bell

City of Angels (Shannon Saga, #1)

City of Angels

by

Tracie Peterson and James Scott Bell

I truly do love to read about the  women in history who defeated the odds. Women who went against rules of what society said they

could or couldn’t achieve. I admire their perseverance to march forward to achieve their God given dreams in

order to pave the way for women today.

This book was so good that I read it in one night! Sometimes it seems very hard for a book to keep my attention but this book really captivated me from the first page!

The book is about a woman named Kit Shannon who at 13 years old is thrown into an unknown world.  Injustice was served and

this is the main reason that she determines in her heart that she would do everything in her power  to become a lawyer in order to  bring back  justice to those who deserve it.  Back in the 1800’s a woman was not really expected to do nothing but to marry well and keep house. Kit Shannon was one of those women who wanted more from life. I really liked that.

This is really the first book that I’ve read from Tracie Peterson. I’ve read a book by James Bell in the past and I really enjoyed it.

I can honestly say that I was continually in shock to learn that my original assumptions about the characters were always wrong.

I thought I knew who did what and next thing I know I’m totally wrong!  That’s something that I do like though

because me as a reader I don’t want to have the usual cliche story. I want to be surprised!

This story was  like a mystery which was really good because I haven’t read a good mystery in a long while.

It was an awesome and decent read with many twists and turns.  I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!  (4stars)

What’s the recent book that you’ve enjoyed reading? 🙂
