After graduating from Fannie Farmer’s School of Cookery in 1910, Charlotte Gregory is ready to stir things up. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to travel, lecture, and give cooking demonstrations on the very latest kitchen revolution–the gas stove–and certainly doesn’t mind that the gas company has hired the handsome Lewis Mathis to perform at her lectures. Lewis encourages her work, especially her crusade to introduce fresh, appetizing, nutritious food to those convalescing in hospitals. But young hospital superintendent Dr. Joel Brooks is not convinced any changes should be made–especially by this outspoken young woman.
When Charlotte and Joel are coerced into planning a fund-raising gala for the hospital, will this combustible pair explode?
Fan favorite Lorna Seilstad is back with a breezy, lighthearted love triangle that will keep readers guessing. Attention to historic detail adorns the timeless story of a young woman looking for true love and making her way in a rapidly changing world.
I had been anticipating to reading this book ever since Lorna Seilstad wrote, “When Love Calls” which was the first book in this series about the Gregory sisters. While Love Stirs, is the second book in this series and it’s about Charlotte Gregory the second sister of the Gregory sisters. First off, I want to say how I really love the colors and vibrancy of this book cover. Love it! The color and hat are really cute!
This story really drew me into its pages from the beginning till the end. It’s another winner by Lorna Seilstad! At the time, I had so many other books to read but this story really captured my attention. That’s something that I really love about this book because I found myself checking out maybe 20 books from the library and this book did a very good job of disregarding everything else and drawing me into its pages.
I enjoyed reading about both the hero and the heroine, and I think that both had equally wonderful stories to read about.
*POTENTIAL SPOILER!!* ~I will say that, and I hope it isn’t too much of a spoiler, one of the scenes of the book reminded me of Chopped! I had never seen anything like a cooking contest in a book before and it was almost as intense as Chopped!~END OF SPOILER~
Overall, I really did enjoy reading this book even though it wasn’t as good as, “When Love Calls.” But I do love reading about the adventures of the Gregory sisters. Also this book was a pretty decent book except for the one surprise kiss that wasn’t in my opinion, necessary, but other than that I enjoyed it!It wasn’t a waste of time at all! I enjoy all the wonderful stories about the heroines and the heroes that the author artfully weaves in this series. I can’t wait for the third book! (4 stars)
*A Library read. Wasn’t required to write a review but I wanted to.*
HAPPY READING Y’ALL!!
