Woman of Courage

~Synopsis~

Jilted by her fiancé, Amanda Pearson gives up on romance and turns to her Quaker faith for reassurance. She becomes determined to follow the Rev. and Mrs. Spalding into the western wilderness to minister to the Nez Percé Indians.

But a three-thousand-mile journey in 1837 is fraught with danger for anyone, and soon Amanda finds herself recovering from near death in a trapper’s cabin. His Indian wife becomes Amanda’s first convert–and friend. But the trapper and his intriguing half-Indian friend want nothing to do with Christians.

Buck McFadden has received nothing but pain from white men who claim Christ as their lord. He wants only to be left to his solitary life, but he can’t seem to walk away from Amanda.

Amanda fears she’ll never reach the mission in the Lapwai Valley. This journey has become life-changing for her–and those she meets–and the choices she must make are almost unbearable.

~Review~

This was my first book that I read by this author and I can tell you right now that I was very, very, very impressed! I really enjoyed reading this book. I think I’ve had interest in reading books that includes the Quaker lifestyle ever since reading Siri Mitchell’s book called,”The Messenger” (which is a very good book by the way if anyone hasn’t read it yet).

This book was very different for me. I loved the plot’s twists and turns! This book certainly has its share! On certain parts of the book I was like”WHAT, THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!!” It was full of surprises!

The heroine was very courageous and just as sweet to read about. I loved how she kept falling into the Quaker dialect and some of the other characters were like, “Why can’t you talk normally?” I also kinda felt sorry for the heroine at one point because it seemed like everything was happening to her all at once!
I’ve never really seen a book where there were so many other cultures involved. Like in this story, it ranged from the  Quakers to the Indians. Another thing that I like in books is when the author can do flash backs with the characters. It’s so awesome to really see why a certain character is a certain way because of what happened in the past and then eventually seeing God coming and changing the scene altogether.

I loved reading this book and I was totally captured until I had finished the very last page! It was adventurous and engaging all at the same time. I’m totally going to see what other books this author has written and see if can I find more books like this. It was a very good read! (4 stars)

Happy Reading Y’all!!   🙂

~Review~

Tracie Peterson has become one of my favorite authors this year! Her stories are mostly always a simple and sweet treat to read. I’ve really enjoyed reading her books.

The heroine in this story,Jessica, was really something! I really liked reading about her character. I liked how the author introduced her story because it was something that many women in that era could really relate to. The hero,Austin, on the other hand, was pretty interesting to read about as well but somehow I couldn’t really connect to his character in this story.

To be quite honest, to me the story did lag at times and most of the time the story didn’t really hold my attention as much as I thought it would. Maybe it was because I didn’t get a chance to read the first two books in this series. Even though the story was a pretty good read, this story wasn’t really my cup of tea.The story is almost like a mystery as well but since I didn’t read the first book in the series, I didn’t really catch on.  I will try to read the first book in this series later on. There were many times that I was at lost knowing who the certain characters were in the story because they were from the previous books. I do recommend reading this series in order to fully enjoy the characters. That’s just my opinion.

Overall, the book cover is absolutely stunning! I really liked the book cover. All in all, even though I didn’t really enjoy this book as much I thought I would, I’m still looking forward to reading more books by Tracie Peterson.

*I received a free copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.*

HAPPY READING Y’ALL!!! 🙂

Special Sunday!!~Psalm 121~

Psalms 121:1-2. My favorite verse <3

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.~Psalms 121-8~

He's the God of all comfort, grace, mercy & compassion. He is sovereign. He makes beauty from ashes. He loves you fully, completely & unconditionally because your every failure & sin has been paid for by the death & resurrection of His own perfect Son. He is your refuge & strong tower. He is the Lover of your soul.

Have a Happy and Blessed Sunday!! 🙂
