Tenney takes readers to Esther’s pre-Islamic Persia to uncover the secrets that helped her win the heart and gain the ear of the king and save her people from destruction. A Jewish girl of no royal heritage was chosen to become the Queen of Persia. Was it her beauty alone, or did she know an important and mysterious truth? Tenney challenges his readers to move beyond formal petitions or even “storming the gates of heaven” to that intimate embrace of worship where the bride’s petitions move the King’s heart and where kingdoms, people, and situations begin to shift like pawns on a divine chessboard.
I will let you all know right now that if there’s anything or everything that has to do with the story of Esther I am so in!
I really loved and enjoyed reading this book. It touched my soul so much. “Finding Favor with the King” was such an inspiring and uplifting read I won’t soon forget.
For those of you who didn’t know, this is the author whose books along with the book of Esther inspired the well cherished film,”One Night with the King”. If you haven’t watched that movie you should because it’s very good!
It was inspiring how in the book the author would really parallel us as the Bride of Christ with Esther’s story. The author also really gave some great insight into the purification process of what Esther had to go through in order to be prepared to stand before the great king Xerxes. It was amazing how herbs such as garlic and myrrh were used in order to purify the body from the inside out. It was powerful because not only did this book help point out the natural side but it also gave some very helpful insight into the spiritual side. It was powerful!
There were so many wonderfully awesome insights like the one below,
“You can never become who you are supposed to be without a victory, and there is no victory without a battle.”
Just like Esther we have to overcome a lot and take courage because we are not like everybody else. We are special and chosen of the one true King.
This book was such an inspiring read on the life of Esther. I was very encouraged and uplifted. I highly recommend reading this book! It was such a blessing.
