A Worthy Heart (Courage to Dream, #2)

~Synopsis~

Can an Irish Lass with a Dream
for America Find True Love?

Maggie Montgomery’s long-held wish to see America is finally coming true. She’ll visit her beloved brother Rylan and his wife, Colleen, and at the same time, escape Neill Fitzgerald’s unwanted attention. In addition, Maggie has a secret! She plans to remain in America to seek her fortune and to hopefully find love. While visiting Irish Meadows, she meets an intriguing man whom she thinks is a stable hand. Only when Rylan demands she stay away from Adam O’Leary does she realize he’s Colleen’s brother, recently released from prison. Nonetheless, Maggie can’t seem to make her heart conform to her brother’s request.

Adam O’Leary has never felt worthy of his place in the family. Spending time in jail only reinforces his belief. Now that he’s free, Adam hopes to make amends and earn back his family’s trust. Falling in love with Maggie Montgomery, however, was never in his plans.

Despite everyone’s effort to keep them apart, the two develop a bond nothing can break–but has Adam truly changed, or will the sins of his past prove too much for Maggie to overcome?

                                ~My Review~

This is my first book that I’ve read by this author. I did start on one of her other books which would be the first book in this series but I didn’t get to finish it. I wish that I did finish it so that I could’ve had a better understanding what was going on in this book. My advice to anyone who is planning on reading “A Worthy Heart” needs to read the first book,”Irish Meadows” in order to be up to speed to what is in this book. That’s just my opinion.
First of all, there were a whole lot more characters in this novel than what I was used to reading in a book. I did still enjoy reading this novel and I can say that it kept my attention throughout the story. If something can keep my attention as far was a book goes then it definitely gets a plus from me. Though I liked the characters pretty decently and the writing flowed well, I still felt that the story was covering the basics and not really going into the depths of the soul of the different characters in the story.
I finished this book within a day or two. I can definitely see potential in this author’s writing but hopefully in the next book there will be fewer characters to keep up with and I just need to see more life and depth in her stories so that every time I read her novels I know it won’t be cliche’.

I love stories that weaves tales of how many different cultures immigrated to America. I find the struggles that they went through and their perseverance very intriguing to read about.
The book cover is absolutely beautiful which I must confess is something that drew me to the story in the first place and also I’ve been wanting to read books from this author. I enjoyed reading this novel and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. (4 stars)

Be Inspired this week!
I’m officially making this my New Year’s song! It is soooo good! There’s so many times that we as humans get caught up in our daily lives that we forget about our Husband. I’ve been guilty of it as well. So often I find myself asking, “God why me” or “God I need you to help me to overcome different situations in my life”. That may be all well and good but what about His needs?
As in a marriage, it should be a give and take relationship not one that is all about being selfish and only thinking about themselves. So many times we have to realize that it’s not all about us. I find out many times that when I put God first that everything presses itself out. Why worry? God has already taken care of it so sit back and relax as you praise Him! 🙂
Have a blessed week!!

The Golden Braid (Hagenheim #6)

~Synopsis~

The one who needs rescuing isn’t always the one in the tower.

Rapunzel can throw a knife better than any man around. And her skills as an artist rival those of any artist she’s met. But for a woman in medieval times, the one skill she most desires is the hardest one to obtain: the ability to read.

After yet another young man asks for Rapunzel’s hand in marriage, Mother decides they need to move once again, but this time to a larger city. Rapunzel’s heart soars—surely there she can fulfill her dream. But Mother won’t let her close to a man. She claims that no man can be trusted.

After being rescued by a knight on the road to the city, and in turn rescuing him farther down the road, Rapunzel’s opportunity arrives at last. This knight, Sir Gerek, agrees to educate Rapunzel in order to pay back his debt. She just has to put up with his arrogant nature and single-minded focus on riches and prestige.

But this Rapunzel story is unlike any other and the mystery that she uncovers will change everything—except her happily ever after.

The Golden Braid~Melanie Dickerson~

I have always been so in love with the story of Rapunzel ever since I was a little girl. I just went head over heels when Tangled came out and I still consider Tangled to be one of my favorite movies.
Anyway, I believe it was a privilege and an honor to read Rapunzel in a novel form. Rapunzel has to be one of my favorite fairy tales besides Cinderella. Just sayin. 😉
The Golden Braid’s story flowed really nicely which is always a bonus in my book. The adventure and the romance was pretty awesome as well. I think that this story brought a whole new twist to the Rapunzel story you always expect from the classic fairy tale.
From the very first page I was drawn into into this brilliant story! I recommend this novel to anyone who loves to read YA novels. Me personally I don’t read a lot of YA fiction I guess I probably wouldn’t know where to start as far as that area of fiction. I highly recommend Melanie Dickerson’s novels though because she has a magical way with words. I’ve been enchanted by her writing ever since I discovered her.
The book cover looks amazing! The long hair and all. *sigh* Though in my opinion the model looks pretty older than what I would imagine Rapunzel in the story. Other than that I love the book cover! How about you?

In England’s Regency era, manners and elegance reign in public life—but behind closed doors treason and deception thrive. Nicholas Langdon is no stranger to reserved civility or bloody barbarity. After suffering a battlefield injury, the wealthy, well-connected British officer returns home to heal—and to fulfill a dying soldier’s last wish by delivering his coded diary.

At the home of the Wilherns, one of England’s most powerful families, Langdon attends a lavish ball where he meets their beautiful and intelligent ward, Julia Grey. Determined to maintain propriety, he keeps his distance—until the diary is stolen and all clues lead to Julia’s guardian. As Langdon traces an evil plot that could be the nation’s undoing, he grows ever more intrigued by the lovely young woman. And when Julia realizes that England—and the man she is falling in love with—need her help, she finds herself caught in the fray. Will the two succumb to their attraction while fighting to save their country?
