~Synopsis~

Tess Beaumont is tired of being thought of as just a pretty face. Eager to do her part for the war effort, she joins the Navy’s newly established WAVES program for women. Perhaps there she can convince people that there is more to her than meets the eye.

Lt. Dan Avery has been using his skills in the fight against German U-boats and hoping to make admiral. The last thing he wants to see on his radar is a girl like Tess. Convinced that romance will interfere with his goals, Dan is determined to stay the course, no matter how intriguing a distraction Tess is.

But love, like war, is unpredictable. When Dan is shipped out at the peak of the Battle of the Atlantic, he finds himself torn between his lifelong career goals and his desire to help the beguiling Tess root out a possible spy on shore. Could this fun-loving glamour girl really be the one?

~My Review~

Wow! Sarah Sundin never fails to disappoint! Why did I wait so long to read this book?

What really drew me to this book was the beautiful book cover of course! I LOVE this book cover and when I saw it I knew that I had to read it.

The story was very moving and I love how Sarah Sundin interweaves history and drama into her novels. I also love how most of her books are interconnected but you can still read this book as a stand-alone as well.

I just love reading Sarah Sundin’s books and I can’t wait to read her next novel. I highly recommend this novel!

Healing Hearts~Sarah Eden~

Healing Hearts (Savage Wells #2)

~Synopsis~

Wyoming Territory, 1876

As the only doctor in the frontier town of Savage Wells, Gideon MacNamara knows his prospects for a bride are limited. The womenfolk in town are either too young, too old, or already spoken for. So, being a practical man, he decides to take advantage of the matchmaking service of the day—mail-order brides—and sends away for a woman with nursing experience.

When Miriam steps off the stagecoach in Savage Wells, she sees a bright future in front of her. But when the town—and Gideon—meets her, ready for a wedding, her excitement quickly turns to horror. Somehow Dr. MacNamara’s message had gotten turned around. He didn’t want a nurse, he wanted a wife. When she refuses to marry him, she finds herself stranded in Savage Wells with some very unhappy townspeople.

But Gideon is not like the other men Miriam has met. Embarrassed by the misunderstanding, he offers her a job, and the two begin an awkward—and often humorous—dance of getting to know each other as they work to care for the people of their town. Romance blossoms between the two, but when a former medical associate of Miriam’s arrives in town, Gideon and the other townsfolk must rally around Miriam to protect her from a dangerous fate. Gideon and Miriam must decide if they are willing to risk their hearts for each other even as buried secrets are brought to light.

~My Review~

I’ve been waiting for a long time to read something by Sarah Eden for quite a while now. I was really intrigued by this story from the very beginning.
It’s really hard for me to find books that draw me in from the start. I loved this book! I think that the cover was beautifully well done.
The romance was just amazing!

The plot was solid, entertaining, and well thought out. I fell in love with both of the main characters which is hard to do with some books.

I was so delighted by this book and I hope to read more by Sarah Eden really soon! I loved reading this novel and I was engrossed by every word. I highly recommend this book!

The Weaver’s Daughter~Sarah Ladd~

The Weaver's Daughter

*Synopsis*

Kate’s loyalties bind her to the past. Henry’s loyalties compel him to strive for a better future. In a landscape torn between tradition and vision, can two souls find the strength to overcome their preconceptions?

Loyalty has been at the heart of the Dearborne family for as long as Kate can remember, but a war is brewing in their small village, one that has the power to rip families asunder –including her own. As misguided actions are brought to light, she learns how deep her father’s pride and bitterness run, and she begins to wonder if her loyalty is well-placed.

Henry Stockton, heir to the Stockton fortune, returns home from three years at war seeking refuge from his haunting memories. Determined to bury the past, he embraces his grandfather’s goals to modernize his family’s wool mill, regardless of the grumblings from the local weavers. When tragedy strikes shortly after his arrival, Henry must sort truth from suspicion if he is to protect his family’s livelihood and legacy.

Henry has been warned about the Dearborne family. Kate, too, has been advised to stay far away from the Stocktons, but chance meetings continue to bring her to Henry’s side, blurring the jagged lines between loyalty, justice, and truth. Kate ultimately finds herself with the powerful decision that will forever affect her village’s future. As unlikely adversaries, Henry and Kate must come together to find a way to create peace for their families, and their village, and their souls – even if it means risking their hearts in the process.

*My Review*

This novel reminded me so much of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. I have never read the actual novel
by Gaskell but I have watched North and South about a hundred times or more. Anyone who loves North and South by BBC
will definitely fall in love with this novel! It was lovely, dramatic, and romantic.

This novel also had some Jane Austen flair to it as well so if you love Regency and Jane Austen her books are
the way to go.

I also loved how the author portrayed the main character,Kate.

I will say that this novel was a bit different from her previous novels. I love to see when authors can show different layers of themselves in their writing.

If you love Regency/Industrial Revolution novels. Then this is definitely the book for you! Highly recommend! Can’t wait for her next book!

A Daring Venture~Elizabeth Camden~

A Daring Venture (Empire State, #2)

*My Review*

This was an awesome read about the sacrifices that we take for granted in our everyday lives.

In this novel, we get to know more about Nickolas  which we was one of the characters in her first book in this
series, A Dangerous Legacy. Nickolas was a wonderful character and he was funny.
The heroine,Rosalind was a very interesting character to read about as well and I love how the author
writes about very smart and accomplished women and how they had to overcome obstacles back in the day.

I can say as with most of her books this novel really drew me in from the start.

I read this novel in about 2 days! That is how good it was!

The story was overall well written, romantic and funny to read. I highly recommend this author and
I can’t wait to read whatever else this author comes out with!
